Travel apps to help you have a good time while staying safe
If you love to travel, you know how important it is to get and stay organized. Flight changes can result in missed connections and mess up your whole day. Standing in line trying to find another connecting flight can be frustrating and futile unless you are first in line. Applaud technology that provides travel apps for busy travelers to reduce the stress that sometimes occurs unexpectedly. Whether you are driving, flying, or going by train, there are apps to help you navigate to your destination.
Travel apps I recommend
Stay in touch with the weather
When planning the day’s activities, you need to know what the weather will be. Rainy days for indoor attractions and sunny days for exploring. This weather app for Android smartphones will keep you informed and your travel plans right on target. If your trip includes hiking or biking, staying on top of weather conditions is critical. You don’t want to be stranded on a hilltop during a thunderstorm with heavy downpours. Rainy days are good for museums, art galleries, aquariums, planetariums, and live theater. When your app shows sunny days, head out to the beaches, mountains, lakes, and other outdoor adventure sites. Try zip lining, biking, boating geocaching, whale watching, deep sea fishing, or one of the many other outdoor activities in the area where you are vacationing.
Flight and accommodation apps
Navigating your way around airports can be a bit overwhelming. Your personal flight assistant is App in the Air. It takes care of your flight travel plans. Any changes or delays are sent to you in a text message, which you will get even when you are traveling overseas without an Internet connection. Kayak and Expedia offer similar apps offering options for booking airline flights, hotels, tickets for various parks and rental cars. The Expedia app also includes area maps. Google Translate is essential for anyone traveling to a country where they don’t know the language. Using your phone’s camera, Google can translate restaurant menus or signs and translate back to you.
Finding your way
Stay offers city guides and offline maps app, which allows you to use GPS without an Internet connection. Check out restaurants, bars and pubs, nightlife spots, and free Wi-Fi locations. You can also find landmarks, points of interest, theater, famous landmarks, history, culture, and much more. You’ll find travel recommendations for cities all over the world. Locate the best local beer, vegan restaurant, vintage clothing, and antique shops. Don’t forget to download a good photo editing app for all the pictures you’ll be taking. Snapseed and Photo Effects Pro are popular choices, and there are several others as well. Check out the brand new HD Camera for android. If you are into videos, check out FilmoraGo. It’s easy to use, has loads of editing features and special effects. You can easily put all your video clips together in a great professional-looking finished product.
You’ll have a great trip and enjoy every minute when you have some of these travel-savvy apps to guide you along your way.

Good app tips, it’s always good to see any new ones out there. Going through the app store can be overwhelming. I haven’t heard of the Stay app yet but it sounds like a good one for the offline maps. Just concerned about space on the phone so hopefully not to heavy on that end. Thanks again!

I gotcha with the phone memory space as my phone is almost permanently full too so have to be careful with the apps I download :)

Hey Alex!
Thanks for the great list of travel apps apps, I’ve already downloaded Stay, and Kayak :)
I’d also recommend 2 apps. One called Fork (search theFork on AppStore) for finding restaurants and a postcard sending app called Postsnap (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/postsnap-the-best-postcard-sending-app/id650814139?mt=8). It’s the best postcard app of the few that I downloaded in terms of price (no unexpected surprises when checking out) and what you can do to customize the front and back of postcards. ?
Just thought I’d pitch in with my 2 recommendations!
