Benidorm holidays – why Benidorm?
If you are thinking of quality beach holidays, then you should go to Spain. And if it is Spain for you, then you should take Benidorm holidays.
I am talking about the typical beach holidays, or what beach holidays mean to almost all the tourists. Great beach, a lot of shops, restaurants, hotels, souvenirs, night life and much more. And obviously more tourists. This is exactly what you can find in Benidorm.
Benidorm used to be just a small fishing village some 40 – 50 years ago but very quickly it became one of the most important tourist destinations in Spain. Something similar happened in Benidorm like for example in Cancun in Mexico. Grew up very fast and nowadays Benidorm is so called Manhattan of Spain (or Beniyork). No wonder why. The whole coast is covered with the skyscrapers that are very easily visible from very far already.
Benidorm with its just 38.51 square kilometres, is situated in the province of Alicante, Valencian community, on eastern coast of Spain called Costa Blanca (White Coast). It is the only place with skyscrapers on Costa Brava, just surrounded by the lovely mountains of Puig Campana.
Benidorm itself has only 72,000 inhabitants but it has around 5 million tourists coming over for holidays every year. It is believed to be not only Spain biggest holiday resort, but also Europe in general. According to the Urban Age project, Benidorm has the most high-rise buildings per capita in the world. You can enjoy some 3,400 hours of sunshine per year in Benidorm and average temperature around 26 Celsius degrees in summer.
Benidorm three main beaches are Playa de Levante, Playa del Poniente and Platja del Mal Pas. All three of them are qualified by blue flag which is the high quality standard beaches in European Union. European travel agencies offer more and more package holidays to Benidorm as it is one of the best touristy beaches in Europe. Mostly UK visitors come here, then from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, among other European countries.
It is not just about quality white beaches why many people choose Benidorm for holidays, but also great night life. As in other places in Spain, the night life starts late so the good news about it is that it finishes late, e.i. early morning hours. Good for party lovers.
There are a couple of festivals going on in Benidorm, too. The most famous ones are for example Indie Music Festival (called Benidorm Low Cost Festival), or Benidorm International Song Festival.
Four theme parks are located in Alicante and surroundings – Terra Natura, Terra Mítica, Mundomar and Aqualandia which are the perfect family spots where to take your children while in Benidorm.
