Your true love has been discovered and that engagement ring is finally on your left hand – now time for all of the wedding planning magic to begin. Obviously there are a million and one decisions that need to be made, but one is in the top and most important: where will the wedding take place?
Of course there is always the traditional church you grew up in, or the courthouse down the street. Nothing’s wrong with Elvis reading your vows at a Vegas chapel or a spring wedding in your backyard. But here we’ve collected a few top wedding destinations in the world, in case you want to broaden your dreams a bit.

According to The Knot, a popular wedding planning website, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Hawaii were among the top wedding destinations selected by American couples venturing outside of the continental U.S. for their big day. These beach getaways are perfect for any couple who loves the sun and surf. There are so many things to do when you’re in the beach for a wedding, from being in the ocean to wandering the boardwalks and enjoying local culture. Being somewhere extra beautiful can be a great way to make your wedding even more enjoyable for you and your loved ones – and the crystal clear waves and silky sand won’t disappoint in any of these destinations.
When you plan the decor and dress for this environment, it can be beautifully striking to be simple – bright colors bring life, while a simple pearl pendant could elevate the look to upper class and extra sophistication. Pearls come from the sea, so what better jewel to crown your beautiful day? You want everything to flow like the waves, from light and airy tablecloths and curtains to fruity drinks and upbeat music.
If you’re more of a chilly weather couple, you can’t go wrong with a wedding in the mountains! If Europe and the Alps are too lofty of a goal, try planning your wedding in Colorado or northern California at a cozy lodge. TIP 2: Costa Rica seems to be another top wedding destination. It’s my second favorite country but before visiting you should check out pros and cons of spending 3 months in the Costa Rican jungle. I fell in love with the jungle but there were also some disadvantages, obviously. Be ready for it.
