Traveling to Las Vegas for the first time? Best tips for an amazing experience
If you are planning your first trip to the iconic city of angels, Las Vegas, here are some top tips to make your trip unforgettable. Firstly, you should pick your season. Depending on how well you do in the desert summer heat, your trip should be planned accordingly.
Once you’ve chosen your holiday dates, get planning! There are many exciting activities and trips you can take while holidaying in sunny Las Vegas, including a day trip to the spectacular Grand Canyon. Finally, choose your hotel. They’re all famous, they’re all grand, but which is right for you? Let’s get started.
When to go
If you want to avoid the blistering summer heat of the Nevada deserts, the best time to visit Las Vegas is between March and May, or from September to November. December, January, and February offer moderate to cool temperatures but have high rainfall.
That is not to say you have to avoid the summer months if you are good with the heat. There is still plenty to do in the hottest months of the year, and Las Vegas is well-equipped with air-conditioned walkways, taxis, casinos, and hotels.
Start planning your activities
Undoubtedly you have chosen to vacation in Las Vegas because you want to have a lot of fun, take part in interesting activities, and make some unforgettable memories. There are many cool things to do in Las Vegas, including touring the iconic main Las Vegas strip and walking down the old city center strip, Fremont Street. These streets offer incredible lights, music, food, entertainment, casinos, and ample photo opportunities.
Welcome to Las Vegas!
You can’t visit the city of angels without stopping by the famous Welcome to Las Vegas sign. Get your photo taken here and you might even spot a new bride with a limo and wedding party in toe stopping for the same photo opportunity.
Take a day trip
Not so far from Las Vegas are the incredible sights of the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. You can drive yourself or book on a coach tour and see these two breathtaking sights in one day. Hoover Dam is a huge dam built in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River and is one of the most impressive man-made constructions you are ever likely to see. It is well worth the trip and is truly breathtaking.
The Grand Canyon is another must-see. With its bright red rocks, incredible cliff edges, and glass bridge that you can stand on with a severe drop below you, it is an unforgettable experience. If you are feeling brave, you can even pay to be flown over the canyon in a helicopter. Talk about an adventure!
Neon Boneyard
This tourist destination is a historic, iconic, and brilliant cultural experience. The Neon Museum was founded in 1996 and is a not-for-profit organization that aims to preserve, study and exhibit old Las Vegas neon signs for entertainment, education, and cultural enrichment. The Neon Boneyard contains over two hundred old, unrestored neon signs that at sunset are illuminated. This spectacular sight is a privileged look into the past excitements and attractions of historic Las Vegas.
Take in a show
While you are staying in this entertainment hub it is only logical that you should go and see a show. Whether you are an avid fan of stage musicals or prefer the intensity of a live boxing match, there will be a Vegas show for you. Get your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment or increased prices.
Visit a casino
It isn’t really a Vegas trip until you have at least set foot in a casino. You don’t have to gamble away your worldly possessions – in fact, it is absolutely recommended you don’t! However, the casinos on the strip are still worth a look, so that you can get the feel for the authentic Vegas experience.
Where to stay
From the Roman Empire theme of the famous and incredibly grand Caesar’s Palace hotel and casino, to the Ancient Egyptian charm of the Luxor resort and casino, which is shaped like a pyramid, the Las Vegas strip offers some very unique hotel experiences. Depending on which theme takes your fancy, and the size of your budget, you can find an incredible and iconic hotel for your trip on the main strip. All of the hotels on the strip are in an ideal location, so get researching and pick the accommodation of your dreams.
Bon voyage!
Now that you have all the information about the weather, activities, and hotels in the city of angels, it’s time to get booking and hit the road! You absolutely won’t forget this exciting adventure, the breathtaking beauty of the Grand Canyon, the fantastic history of the Neon Boneyard, or the eccentric grandeur of Caesar’s Palace.
