Be careful where you buy meat in Mexico
We, Europeans, have quite strict rules when it comes to food, I think. If someone wants to sell any food at the street, in many countries it is not easy unless he has a permission to do so.
Even in the shops, the food hygiene is pretty strict, trust me, my parents used to have a grocery shop.
So when I came to Mexico, I was shocked at first. It seemed there were no rules at all. People selling all the kinds of things at the streets, including food.
What surprised me probably the most was the meat in the little shops. In 35 Celsius degrees, it was not in any fridge, but just hanging out surrounded with all the disgusting flies.
And then, we Europeans and other non-Mexicans, do not understand why we all have stomachache and diarrhea during our first visit to Mexico. So be careful with what and where you eat or buy 😉
