Photo essay – frozen Sninske Rybniky

You have maybe noticed I don’t write much about my home town and surroundings even though it has a beautiful landscape. Beside one photo of super dark clouds in Snina I published long ago, you could only see photos from the place I was born on my facebook fanpage usually.

But as this winter I have spent most of the time here enjoying walks on cold sunny days, here are some photos from Sninske Rybniky – summer swimming pools in my home town Snina.

There is a lovely walk to get to Sninske Rybniky from the city centre which will take you around 1 hour, or you go by car. Never stop exploring the places you take for granted. You can get stunning photographs there!

It is big, yes, but I have seen bigger pools. The good thing is not many people swim in the deep part of the pool, not even in summer. And it can get hot, even 35 – 38 Celsius degrees in summer but the usual temperature is around 27 – 33 C I guess.

  2. Looks so peaceful. Great photos. That looks like the biggest swimming pool I have ever seen! How warm does it get there during summer?

I was born here so staying with family. The only person doing CS here is me but most of the time I am not here. And there are no hostels, just 2 3*** hotels in the town.

  4. Looks a tad nipply to jump in this time of year… Are you couch surfing? Staying in hostels? What are the overnight accommodations like there?

Yes, and the pool is not very full in summer so easy to swim in as it’s 3 m deep :) Unfortunately, there are not many things in Snina to write about.

  8. It looks like a massive pool, bet it is great to swim in. I hope we get to see more articles about your home town, it is little known to most of us.
