On 7th May 2022, the government decided to relaunch the flights and expand the new relationship and potential between its alliance countries. It is a very exciting decision and grand news for the people of Saudi Arabia. The president personally insisted on the reopening of the flights.
The reason behind the cancellation of the flights
The beginning of the pandemic first hit the people around March 2020. The widespread of the first coronavirus wave started great destruction. The government announced the lockdown procedure to control the extent of the virus. Due to the lockdown, people were forced to stay at home without any outside contact. Schools, colleges, and many sectors were gradually shut down for a long period. The airlines of the different countries were forced to shut down. Economic field to the medical field even the security of the nations was at stake at that time.
The Saudi Arabian government announced the first step of the lockdown around March 15, 2020. There was a possibility of spreading the coronavirus more among people. The Saudi Arabian Government made a clear statement about the lockdown procedure. The government also added ‘the cancellation of all international flights for the two weeks. The decision was taken to mitigate the outbreak of this deadly virus.
The further notice was released shortly after the first period of cancellation. The cancellation sanctioned even other travels and made more restrictions on travelling and other business areas like import and exportation.
The effect of this cancellation
The airline’s cancellation greatly affected each field and showed a great disruption in travel to Saudi Arabia. Airline travel was banned from the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq and Egypt. Furthermore, the flights were also cancelled from Malawi, Zambia, Madagascar, Seychelles, Mauritius, and Comoros to mitigate the new variant of coronavirus, Omicron.
Later, the Saudi Arabia flights were also cancelled in many African regions. Reports confirmed the region’s name included South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Eswatini, Botswana and many more.
Around December 2021, the cancellation was lifted slightly for Indians, Egyptians, Pakistanis and many other countries. They could enter the kingdom. But there were many restrictions and 14 days of quarantine for better security and medical purposes.
The resumption of Saudi airlines
After these two years of battling this deadly virus, the government finally decided to reopen the airlines. The Turkish media reported on Friday 6th may, that the government has decided and developed several terms to relaunch the Saudi airlines after a long pause. It also decided that the airlines would travel to Istanbul. The first schedule of the flights was planned to start on 7th May.
The airlines also included the Turkish city, Riyadh and Jeddah on May 7. Later, the reports also confirmed that the flights also reschedule their routes to Jeddah and Medina every day. Turkish media delivered another report about the airline’s route. The airlines will hold their route to Riyadh on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The political view on this resumption
From 11th May, the flights will be launched from Medina to Istanbul airport. The resumption of the flights took an initiative step quickly after the visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with the king Salman and the crown prince Mohammad bin Salman on 28th April. This encounter took place after a long period.
It is also said that the number of flights will increase in the upcoming days to Istanbul. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also set an example of a new era with such potential and a new influence on political, military, economic and cultural cooperation.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also tied up a new relationship and a great hope with the capital Riyadh. Even reports are stating that this resume of the airlines is also a great step for the new business relationships. Even the flight with 130 passengers landed onboard in Jeddah with such a great welcome.
It is also a good political move by both governments. This tour and the reopening of the airlines have also made good alliances between these two countries. After the long period of the pandemic, this alliance is a strong point for a new political era.
The pandemic era is an unforgettable period in history. Many people suffered from this disease. Many people stayed a long period of distance from their homes. The government took many steps to decrease the spread of the pandemic. Many people lost their loved ones. All international airlines were closed for a long time. There was a whole imbalance in the economy.
Several countries were forced to break their airways to mitigate the pandemic and its effect. Each country took initial steps to control the outbreak. The end of a decade left every soul devastated. Even the religious sights were closed due to this pandemic. People faced a tough time due to this.
Saudi airlines were one of the best airlines in the world. The airline was one of the major attractions not only for tourism but also for business relations and political insights. Due to this pandemic situation, it has seen a worse situation than expected. Governments were forced to cut off the relationship between the neighbouring countries.
After the end of this pandemic situation, it is time for a new start for each country. The distance relationship needs to start a new agreement between countries. The reopening of the airlines is a great way to stretch out the hands for the help and support of the neighbouring countries.
The reopening of Saudi Arabian airlines is also expected to be more high tech advanced and more comfortable for the passengers. This resume of Saudi airlines will lead to a great future experience for passengers.
