I had tears in my tears reading this post. I’m so sorry about your brother, but know that he would be so proud of you if he were here now – and no-one ever truly goes away when people still love and think about them everyday. You are such a brave and inspiring lady xxx

This is a very touching and brave post. Thank you for sharing it. My dad died from alcoholism when I was 17, which always felt like a type of suicide. My mum also died a few years ago, followed by my nan two weeks later. I echo your sentiment that you have to focus on what you learn from these things rather than dwell on the sadness of it all. Above all, experiencing suffering helps you to grow your own compassion for others, which I think is one of the most important things we must learn in life. We are here to help each other. Thanks again for sharing.

It’s hard when any family loses a member – it’s the ten year anniversary of my nana passing away after the hospital made a mistake during an operation – but I can’t imagine how it must feel to have a brother pass away so young. I kept imagining my little brother while I was reading this.

Thanks so much for sharing…it must have been tough to write. I don’t really know what else to say, other than that your post really moved me.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know the feeling of life’s hard hands motivating you to travel. A few years back within a 3 month period I found out my father had cancer (he has been clean & healthy for 3 years now), I broke my foot, My brothers house burned to the ground and my cousin committed suicide. It was just around this time that I decided I would finally start saving up for the RTW trip I always dreamed of because you never knew what hand you would be dealt. It is in our lowest moment I feel that we find our greatest strengths!

Here’s to happier times and many road adventures!

    Aloha
